Prague Castle

Friday, May 4, 2019.  We took the tram to the Prague Castle.  It was probably spectacular, but was too crowded for us to fully enjoy today.  So, instead of pushing ourselves and waiting in hours of lines, we took it easy.  We saw some things, but skipped others.  We then went back to our place and got ice cream.

This is Madame de Thebes's house on Golden Lane.  She was a fortune teller and lived here before WWII.  She was the widow of a pharmacist and drew attention from afar with her black clothing and old fashioned ostrich feather hat.  Since 1914, she had waited in vain for her son to return from the First World War.  Everyday she prepared a table and bed for him.  Customers arrived daily to hear her predictions.  People wrote her from around the world.  Because of her predictions about an early end to the war and the fall of the Third Reich, she was arrested by the Gestapo and tortured to death.

Beautiful views as we left the Castle complex

The kids each picked out three scoops of ice-cream. Ridgely wanted me to mention that she chose lemon, salted carmel and every berry.  Yum!
