Friday, April 26, 3019. First, I just want to say that it's so much fun having Greg here!
Greg slept til about 10am and was able to get caught up on sleep. We had cereal in the apartment and then headed to the Brandenburg Gate. After the Gate, we went to the museum, which is small, but had an excellent 20 minute film on the history of Germany. The movie stretched around the entire room and was informative and artistic. Per their recommendation, we watched it twice. :)
We then walked to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. We walked through the Memorial (see pictures below) and then went into the information center below the Memorial. Although they recommended it for kids 14+ only, we were glad we tried it anyway. It was not very graphic.
By the time we left the Memorial, I was starving. Greg and I wanted Indian, Haughton wanted Italian, Ridgely wasn't excited about either, so... we found a restaurant that, as Haughton said, "satisfies everyone"! We had seen a video of Berlin suggesting that we try currywurst, so we all shared an appetizer of currywurst and then ordered our dishes. Greg tried to tell the waiter that he only wanted a plate (because he was so sure the kids wouldn't finish). We all laughed remembering the stories of Granddad (My brothers still joke with my dad about eating off their plates as kids). So, Greg ordered a salad (and shared my dish). :)
We then mosied to Check Point Charlie, bought postcards and took some pictures standing next to portions of the Berlin Wall.
Finally, we had fruit smoothies and went home. What a day!
