April 3. Yesterday we spent the day with our friends Missi and Jesus. They brought us to see Italica, which was the first permanent Roman settlement in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. The emperor Trajan was born here in the year 53. Italica's amphitheater is the second largest (the first being the Colosium in Rome).
Changing gears a little, we spent much of the afternoon at a local dog show, which the kids, of course, also loved.
We then went back to Jesus and Missi's house. The kids climbed on the 200 year-old olive trees (see pix below), picked lemons and played basketball with a gardening basket and lemons. What better way to conclude a lemon basketball game than with fresh squeezed lemonade!? After swinging by Missi & Jesus's old house (where I stayed with them for 3 weeks when I was 14), we headed home.
I was then up entirely too late packing. Tomorrow we head to Granada....
Thanks for taking pictures of the place you're staying and every day objects like the rubbish bin. Sometimes the seemingly mundane is just as, or more, interesting than the fantastical.
